1000 Cranes 4 Peace
Over the last few months, Brands Strides has supported 1000 Cranes 4 Peace to successfully execute its very first exhibition at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Much of the support that Brand Strides provided ranged from a logo refresh to messaging, building a storyboard, to executing several digital assets needed to bring the story of Arlene Butler to life in the form of the One-2-Many Art exhibition.
It was in partnership with Melanie Cooper Studio that we were able to successfully display the faces of 1000 crane recipients and take the viewer on a journey of how the cranes might impact them.
It was the 9/11 tragedy that become a pivotal moment in Arlene’s journey. She felt a calling to understand the severity and devastating impact that infiltrated so many lives. In a search for peace and human interactions 1000 Cranes 4 Peace was born, more than 20 years ago. Today, Arlene has shared over 15 000 cranes in over 50 countries, sharing memorable moments and human interactions.
The One 2 Many exhibition will be held at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley through October 9th, 2022. In this exhibition, Arlene explores themes of nature, the individual, and the community in complementary displays of work. Working with paper and the use of color, shape, and movement to share her journey.
One 2 Many
“One 2 Many” documents the creation of the project “1000 Cranes 4 Peace” and displays the social engagement photos “The Faces of 1000 Cranes – Accidental Pilgrimage 2012” along with an installation of 1000 origami cranes and various inspired related art pieces. This hallway display will take the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley’s visitors on a trip of creation, response to personal and global trauma, worldwide travel, and making connections through a small, transformed piece of paper and many folded and shared origami cranes. The goal of this exhibition is to touch hearts, encourage connections and inspire individual action for peace personally, locally, and globally.
